Newcomers

Newcomers Welcome

Like to try our church, but don’t know what to expect?

Don’t worry let us try to give you a taste of what we get up to.

We are quite relaxed at The Chapel and we don’t expect you to join in with anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If you want to join in with the singing, that’s great, but if all you want to do is sit and watch, that’s fine too.

You won’t need a hymn-book (or prayerbook) as we project all of the words onto a screen, some people bring their Bibles with them but we have plenty available if you want to follow the reading(s).

Our 11.00am Sunday service is ‘family friendly’ with children’s activities available. Unity Church, at 8.00pm on Thursday evenings is more for adults but has the same informal feel about it. There’s tea, coffee & fruit juice, before, after or even during the services. The meetings last about an hour & a half, but you can always slip out before the end if you want to.
Our services usually begin with some sung worship. This is a way of declaring truths about our awesome God, and of saying how much we love him. It is usually led by a band — singers, keyboard, guitar, drums, etc. — and most of the songs are reasonably easy to pick up. Occasionally, we even sing hymns!

We also pray together, listen to a reading from the Bible, and hear a sermon. In some services we have “communion”, a part of the service where we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us by dying on the cross. The bread and wine that we share are symbols of this. If you already know and love the Lord Jesus, you are most welcome to share the bread and wine with us. If that isn’t you, you are still welcome to receive a prayer of blessing.

After the service you could just quietly leave, but we’d love you to stick around for a bit and introduce yourself to a few of us.

Look forward to seeing you soon :-D
